Finding the area

Red Bridge Recreation Area is located nine miles northwest of Kane, PA, along State Route 321. It is on the eastern shore of Kinzua Bay, a southern branch of the Allegheny Reservoir, and is on the Longhouse National Scenic Byway.

Open Trout to Deer, April 1st to December 15th.  The showerhouse is open dependent on weather and occupancy, call 814 368-4158 for a fringe season status.

Camping Fees:  $18.00 to $20.00 per site for the site  Add $5.00 for electric and $12.00 for FHU

Red Bridge has 65 campsites, each containing a picnic table, fire ring, and tent pad. Hot water showers, vault and flush toilets, pressurized water fountains, and a trailer dump station are available. Sites with electricity, water and sewage hookups are available. Firewood and ice are available on-site. Dead and down wood may be used as firewood.

Cabins on sites 17 & 19.

The cabins are 20X14 structures with a 6X14 porch. The cabins were designed with a rustic tiny house theme.  There is a small low ceiling sleeping loft which can sleep four.  An open floor plan bedroom on the first floor with a full size bed.  Two sofa chairs in the living area that fold out into single beds.  Linens are Not provided.  The restroom has a shower, sink and commode.  A pocket door separates the restroom from the rest of the structure.  Along with the sofa chairs the living space has a round table with four stools.  A kitchen with a 8 foot counter space and sink, two burner hot plate, small fridge, microwave, and coffee maker.  No kitchen ware is included.  The cabin has heat and AC, electric lighting inside and outside of the cabin.  A picnic table and fire ring on the back side of the cabin.

$120.00 per night for up to 4 people.  $10 per night for additional people.

$25.00 pet fee.  Pets are not to be left alone in the cabin and any damages are charged to the renter.

A credit card will be taken upon check inn.

No smoking in the cabin.  The cabin is to be left as it is found, clean and no personal belongings.

Other features

The North Country National Scenic Trail crosses SR 321 one-fourth mile south of the campground. The southern terminus of the Longhouse National Scenic Byway is one mile south. Red Bridge Bank Fishing Area (suitable for people with disabilities) is immediately adjacent.

History

The recreation area is located near the site of a former Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) unit known as Camp #3. The camp stood from 1933 until 1946. During World War II, it was used as a German Prisoner-of-War Camp. Red Bridge was constructed in the late 1960s as part of the recreation development related to the Kinzua Dam.
